Riva del Garda

Lake Garda’s Glorious Northern Shores Mountainous landscapes, hillside villages and harbour towns line the shores of the spectacular northern tip of Lake Garda. All of our hotels are in fantastic locations, allowing you to explore medieval lakeside towns, the majestic Dolomites and the romantic city of Verona, or simply relax by the shimmering waters with an ice cream or Aperol spritz! SUGGESTED ITINERARY Day 1 Arrival We arrive at our hotel in time for dinner. Day 2 Riva del Garda/Torbole sul Garda Driver’s Day Off Today is spent at leisure. We can enjoy a stroll between Riva and Torbole on the flat lakeside path; it’s only about 3 kilometres and will take approximately 40 minutes to walk (one way). Spend some time in the beautiful old piazza of one of these towns surrounded by cafés and bars overlooking the lake. Alternatively, take a relaxing return boat trip to the picture postcard village of Limone sul Garda and enjoy the beautiful scenery along the way. Day 3 Malcesine & Lazise This morning we visit the ancient town of Malcesine. Its maze of cobbled streets sit on the edge of the blue waters of the lake, in the shadow of breath-taking Monte Baldo, the largest mountain in the Lake Garda region. A cable car can be taken to the summit for spectacular views across the lake and the Dolomites. The delightful old port is lined with cafés, restaurants, boutique stores and gelato eateries, so we can enjoy a stop at an outdoor café with a lake view. In the afternoon we travel via the scenic lakeside road to the pretty walled town of Lazise, with its paved lakefront promenade and fine sandy beach. Lazise also has a wonderful old town centre, with narrow alleyways, picturesque squares and harbour. The 12th century Church of San Nicolò is known for its frescoes, while Scaliger Castle can be admired from the outside, though cannot be visited as it is privately owned. We can return to Riva via the motorway for a circular route, or alternatively drive back via the lakeside again. Day 4 Dolomites & Lake Molveno Today we travel north to the dramatic Dolomites and enjoy a scenic tour of this outstanding area. We will travel over the pass at Madonna di Campiglio where we can marvel at the spectacular views of the Brenta peaks before visiting charming and pretty Lake Molveno. (Please note: at certain times of year, this excursion may be subject to weather conditions.) Day 5 Verona Our full day highlight excursion takes us to the world-famous city of Verona, the romantic capital of Europe and one of Italy’s oldest cities. Situated on the banks of the River Adige and perhaps best-known for its association with Shakespeare’s Romeo and Juliet, it boasts a rich array of art and architecture. Its heart is dominated by a mammoth, remarkably well-preserved 1st century Roman amphitheatre, the venue for the city’s annual summer opera festival. Piazza Bra is the largest piazza in Verona, lined with numerous cafés and restaurants for a relaxing pitstop. Verona is a shoppers’ paradise, too, with something for everyone – from the daily market in Piazza delle Erbe, where there are plenty of bargains to snap up and a great selection of local produce, to the stylish designer shops on Via Mazzini. Day 6 Departure After breakfast, we begin our journey home.
