Christopher Sweet has over 32 years of aviation safety experience, obtaining various designations over his career. He is serves as an Unmanned Aircraft System (UAS) Hazardous Material Aviation Safety Inspector for the Office of Hazardous Materials Safety. He is part of a specialized team that certifies drone operators desiring to conduct package delivery and other drone-related operations within the National Airspace System. Christopher is also the HazMat Subject Matter Expert for a joint government and industry initiative that will culminate in integrated Advanced Air Mobility Operations at one or more key site locations by the 2028 time frame. Christopher hopes to gain a better understanding of different perspectives, traits and styles of leadership. He also strives to focus on self-improvement and achieve the ability to share what he’s learned with others in his professional career. Christopher’s goals after graduation include guiding others toward success in the aviation industry and fostering a positive culture within organizations to drive the future of aviation forward. He aims to leave a lasting legacy of knowledge, preparedness and enthusiasm for aviation to contribute to the growth and welfare of his community. Christopher is an avid DIY advocate and enjoys projects that allow him to learn new skills and solve problems. His passion is shared with his family as he enjoys passing his DIY skillset to his children. He also enjoys golf when he can find the time in his busy life. Christopher and his wife both retired from the U.S. Navy, serving 24 and 26 years, respectively, and have three children, one grandchild and four pets.
