Jena Vruwink Skerven is a revenue cycle regulatory specialist at Aspirus Health in Wausau. In this role, she serves as a subject matter expert to eight Revenue Cycle Departments and over 90 Wisconsin and Michigan facilities in the Aspirus system. Jena continuously views, interprets, tracks and communicates over 350 regulatory and insurance updates per month. She leads meetings within and outside her department to share and discuss pertinent findings to ensure proactive implementation of billing changes and decrease health insurance claim denials. Jena also prepares and distributes informative monthly newsletters containing regulatory updates. Jena graduated from UW-La Crosse with a degree in accountancy. Jena’s interest to expand her management, leadership and communication skills led her to the MBA program. This, along with her work experience, will help Jena to advance her career and become a more effective, knowledgeable leader as she continues to build her professional skille set. Jena looks forward to engaging and learning more about community resources, industries, and regional economics. Upon graduation from the MBA program, Jena plans to explore advancement opportunities within Aspirus. She intends to apply what she learns in the classroom to her career with increased confidence to take on new managerial responsibilities. Jena looks forward to networking with like-minded individuals who are in different industries and at different points in their careers. In her free time, Jena enjoys hunting, fishing, gardening, reading and DIY projects. Most of all, she loves spending time with her husband and two young children. As a newly minted season ticket holder, she tries to attend every Green Bay Packers home game.
