Michael Wanta is a production supervisor at Steel King Industries where he manages a variety of operations. His responsibilities include organizing budgets, creating schedules, adhering to shipping protocols, processing improvements, and overseeing communication between departments and shifts. He is also involved in the hiring, developing, and coaching of 45 full-time, temporary, and youth apprentices. Michael received a degree in business administration with a management concentration from UW-Stevens Point. Michael believes the MBA program will help him acquire the knowledge needed to advance his career. He looks forward to improving his leadership skills and decision-making abilities to effectively lead his team. By building connections with professionals in similar roles, Michael will gain knowledge in his industry and improve his management abilities. He is especially interested in the program’s focus on business in central Wisconsin which will enrich his understanding of Steel King’s position in the regional economy. After 10 years of experience at Steel King Industries, Michael was motivated to return to UWSP where he received his undergrad. He is excited to reconnect with professors he previously had and build upon his education from experienced instructors. Michael is eager to see what he and fellow MBA candidates can offer each other professionally. Michael’s greatest professional dream is to hold a director or vice president position by the end of his career. Michael’s goal is to represent King Steel Industries in the community within upper management. Receiving an MBA will help show his children that they can achieve anything they work for and dream no small dream. Completing the program will be a great achievement for both Michael and his family.
