Un projet d’envergure est en préparation dans la municipalité de La Nation afin que les résidents puissent s’identifier à leur communauté.
Le comité Éco-École de l’École secondaire catholique d’Embrun avait soumis un projet à la Fondation Desjardins, en octobre dernier, portant sur l’environnement. Ce projet, lancé dans toutes les écoles, demandait aux participants d’imaginer quelque chose qui touche l’environnement. « Le projet que nous avons proposé, a expliqué l’enseignante Kim Savage, représente un jardin mural à l’intérieur de l’école. » En décembre dernier, le comité a eu l’heureuse surprise d’avoir été sélectionné et, surtout, d’avoir remporté la somme de 3000 $, somme qui aidera à créer l’œuvre. A super-sized quilt is in the works in honour of The Nation and help residents better identify with their community. The Quilt Project, launched by Councilor Marie- Noëlle Lanthier, will involve 20 women living in the area making a gigantic mural quilt that will feature symbolic representations of The Nation region. TAKE NOTICE that the Council of the Corporation of the Village of Casselman will hold a public meeting on the Tuesday the 26th day of March 2019, at 6:30pm in the Community Hall at the JR Brisson Complex, 758 Brebeuf Street, Casselman, to consider a proposed amendment of the Village of Casselman Zoning By-Law No. 1996-635 under Section 34 of the Planning Act , R.S.O. 1990, as amended. Zoning Amendment Proposal The purpose and effect of the zoning amendment application is to add a new general provision to control the use of shipping container within the Village of Casselman. 4.36 Shipping Container a) The use of a shipping container as a permanent accessory building or structure shall be prohibited save and except within Highway Commercial (HC), (HCR), (HCS) zones, Industrial (M) zones and Institutional (I), subject to the following provisions: • No shipping container shall be located within the front yard; • The shipping container shall be located at a minimum distance of 6.0 metres from any exterior side lot line; • The shipping container shall be located at a minimum distance of 1.2 metres from any interior side and rear lot line; • The maximum lot coverage shall be equal or less than 5% or limited to a maximum of four (4) shipping container per lot, whichever is less; • The issuance of a building permit is required for the use of a shipping container as an accessory building or structure; • The stacking of shipping containers is prohibited; • Notwithstanding the above the use of a shipping container as a permanent accessory building or structure may be permitted on lands owned by the Village of Casselman.
