Similarly, transmissions are get- ting smarter in an effort to eliminate internal component friction and reduce fuel consump- tion. Using lighter materials like aluminum and magnesium in the manufacturing of mechanical parts also helps reduce the weight and energy consumption of modern snowmobiles.
