Background The University of Cincinnati is committed to properly compensating employees. These guidelines establish the manner in which University faculty members are assigned an effort percentage when dually-compensated by the Veteran’s Administration. Guidelines  For purposes of this policy, the typical work week for UC COM faculty is assumed to be 50-52hours.  The VA work week is assumed to be 40 hours as designated in the 8thsprogram.  A VA employee with an 8/8 th appointment at the VA can have collateral employment with UC/UCP up to 20% effort.  The VA + UCP FTE is combined to equal the UC FTE, except in the case of an 8/8 th appointment and collateral employment with UC/UCP.  The minimum UC salary for a benefits eligible faculty member is $35,000 and a 0.65 UCFTE.  Total effort is assigned according to the following chart:

* A faculty member may be 8/8ths VA and receive collateral pay from UC and/or UCP. Since this is considered collateral employment, not concurrent, the UCP and VA FTEs do not equal the UCFTE.
