EUROPEAN YOUTH
ORCHESTRA - SINTRA Richmond Upon Thames is twinned with the towns of Fontainebleau, Konstanz and Lodi. Every year, 10 young musicians from each of the towns come together for a four night residential project to form a European Youth Orchestra. Under guidance of conductors from each participating town, music is selected
and prepared in advance, later coming together to rehearse and perform a concert. This year the host town was Sintra and Waldegrave was proud to send nine pupils as part of the Richmond contingent. It was a wonderful experience offering the chance to make friends from across Europe, develop musically and build their cultural understanding. They also got the chance to visit Sintra’s fairy-tale style castle!
