HOW I FOUND MY CALLING AND HOME AT BRASHER LAW Meet Joe, Who Aces Both Courtrooms and Disc Golf Courses
I was 20 when I knew I wanted to be a lawyer. Before I made up my mind, I had long leaned more toward math and science. But a specific conversation with an attorney shifted my idea of what it meant to be a lawyer. Through friendly debate, I realized the profession requires you to evaluate multiple perspectives, every version of a story, and all of the possibilities at hand. Ultimately, it requires you to question your own outlook, and I decided it was the profession for me. So, I studied law at the University of Texas! I remember the moment I learned my LSAT score weighed even more than my GPA when it came to the admission process for law school. All I could think was that I needed to get myself into gear ASAP! To ensure I aced that test, I dedicated my final semester to studying for the LSAT. I treated it like a job and studied for over four hours a day just for that single test. Fortunately for my sanity, I passed!
reconnected with Clint and became an attorney with the Brasher Law Firm in October 2008. Funny enough, in 2004, I married my wife Amy, who is also Clint’s sister-in-law! It seemed destined that I come back to Texas and work with Clint. Now, Amy and I have our two teens, Joshua and Sophia. When I’m not at the firm, I’m playing disc golf with my son since we’ve recently become fairly obsessed with the sport. Since we live out in the country, there’s plenty of open space, so the neighborhood decided to create our own disc golf course that we can all use. If you’re looking for Joshua and me, we’re most likely on the makeshift course! Our whole family is pretty active. My wife and I love hiking together and traveling as much as possible. When it comes to being a lawyer, parent, and spouse, there’s one aspect I continue to practice daily: learning how to stay patient and calm no matter the situation. Every one of these roles can involve stressful scenarios, but to be the best in every area of my life, I need to be rational and understanding. Meanwhile, my kids like to say I’m just a pushover! I think this practice is vital to my profession because my goal is to bring my clients a sense of relief. When dealing with legal issues, you often feel plenty of negative emotions, be it stress, guilt, grief, or anxiety. That’s why I think it’s critical to keep a cool head to help my clients feel as at peace as they can. If I can close a case and bring resolution for a client where they can finally exhale, I did my job right. I hope this newsletter has helped you get to know me even just a little bit better, and if you ever stop by the office, don’t be afraid to say hi! For those looking for legal guidance or disc golf tips, I’m your man!

Once I graduated, I met Clint Brasher and the Brasher Law team. I got some incredible experience doing mediation presentations and helping in any way I could for eight months before officially starting law school. Law school passed without a hitch, and when I graduated, I decided to practice law out of state. But I knew I wanted to eventually return to my home state, Texas. That’s when I

MAYO MAGIC:
The Secret to Juicy Thanksgiving Turkey
Immediate Measures to Secure Your Injury Claim Texas roads have long been known for a large amount of car accidents. In 2022 alone, 244,092 people were injured in motor vehicle traffic crashes. To put it in perspective, one reportable crash occurred every 57 seconds that year. With numbers like those, it’s crucial to know exactly what to do if you experience a car accident. How you handle an accident can directly affect the success of a potential injury claim if you were harmed in a collision. By taking the following steps, you’ll ensure that you can reach the best possible outcome for your case. CHECK FOR SERIOUS INJURIES. First, you should always check to ensure that you and the other party are uninjured. If you find that someone needs medical attention, contact emergency medical help as soon as possible. CALL 911. If the accident is more than just a scratch or dent, you must call 911. You will need the police to file an official accident report and note the exact collision details. If you were to file a claim later on, this police report would be essential in your case. Additionally, it is against the law to not report to the police if an accident leads to injury or death. EXCHANGE INFORMATION. You will need the other party’s contact information and insurance details. Additional information you should exchange includes home addresses, phone numbers, and email addresses so you can contact them in the future if needed. This is also when you should write down or photograph any evidence you can before you forget! SEEK MEDICAL CARE, NO MATTER WHAT. Even if you don’t feel any pain at the time, you must check with your doctor since they may discover an injury you wouldn’t notice until weeks or even months later. Often, pain in your neck or back due to an injury only manifests later. So, to be sure, meet with your physician as soon as possible. SPEAK WITH YOUR ATTORNEY. Finally, call your attorney, as they can be an incredible source of guidance throughout the legal process, help you compile your evidence, and negotiate a settlement if needed. If you or someone you know has recently experienced a car accident and needs legal assistance, the Brasher Law team is here to make this process as smooth as possible. The turkey undoubtedly takes center stage among the many culinary delights that grace the Thanksgiving table. While there are plenty of methods for cooking a turkey, many chefs and home cooks swear by the “mayo method” as the best way to achieve a moist and flavorful Thanksgiving turkey — here’s why! MOISTURE LOCK One of the biggest challenges when roasting a turkey is maintaining its moisture. The mayo method involves slathering the turkey with a layer of mayonnaise before roasting. Because mayonnaise contains oil, it helps lock in moisture during cooking, resulting in a juicy and tender turkey. FLAVOR INFUSION If you’re a mayo lover, you’ll agree it’s delicious! While it gives the turkey a subtle and rich flavor, the result doesn’t taste like mayonnaise at all! (Mayo haters can breathe a sigh of relief.) EVEN BROWNING Applying mayonnaise to the turkey creates an even and beautiful browning effect on the skin. This enhances the visual appeal and contributes a succulent and slightly crispy texture. SPICE KICK Don’t worry — you’re not using only mayonnaise on your turkey. The mayo method serves as an excellent base for your choice of seasonings. You can create your own mixture before applying it to the turkey. Thyme, parsley, garlic powder, sage, cayenne, and rosemary are all great options. SIMPLE PREPARATION The mayo method streamlines your preparation process — here’s what to do: • Allow your turkey to thaw. Create your custom mayonnaise by mixing it with your seasonings of choice.
• Dry the turkey with paper towels and season it with salt and pepper.
• Gently separate the skin from the bird and slide in cubes of butter.
• Rub the entire turkey with your mayonnaise mixture, inside and out.
Bake at 450 F for 30 minutes. Then lower the temperature to 325 F and cook for 15 minutes per pound.
•
This Thanksgiving, give the mayo method a whirl — you and your guests won’t be disappointed!

WHEN DISASTER STRIKES TWICE How We Fought for Justice Against All Odds
BREAK TAKE A truck, which caused Alaina to experience a torn lateral meniscus in her right knee. Unfortunately, to make matters worse, the police blamed her husband for not stopping in time and issued him a ticket. Of course, the road construction company also accused her husband When our client Alaina was involved in a severe crash, she and her husband were already in the midst of disaster. It began when the couple’s home was completely flooded during Hurricane Harvey, a catastrophic storm that displaced countless individuals, including Alaina and her husband. Since their home was severely damaged, the couple lived out of a motel for several months. But on their way back from the motel, the couple experienced a collision that seemed unprecedented and out of their control. As Alaina’s husband drove down the highway, they rounded a curve and were immediately faced by a work convoy truck parked in the left lane. Because it was placed right in the middle of the curve and without any warning signs, there was no way for Alaina’s husband to see the truck before it was too late. The couple painfully crashed into the back of the
of the collision and refused to take any responsibility for the accident. No firm wanted to take Alaina’s case, but she was determined to prove the truth, which was that her husband had no way of avoiding the truck. Luckily, the couple found the Brasher Law team, and we accepted her case and filed a lawsuit.
During litigation, our team uncovered that the road construction company failed to follow the plans approved by the Texas Department of Transportation that required the company to put up warning signs thousands of feet before the lane was blocked off. Since we revealed the truth and proved the couple’s innocence, we were able to settle on compensation that would cover Alaina’s medical expenses and the pain and suffering that occurred due to her injuries. It’s wins like this one that remind me why I do what I do. Despite Alaina and her husband facing a series of uphill battles, our team was able to help them find justice. I hope that anyone who feels as though their story hasn’t been heard can come to us and receive the support they need in their case. –Joe Muckleroy

Stuffed bell peppers are a common meal in many households. And as temperatures begin to drop, there’s no better way to warm up than by turning this classic recipe into a hearty — and healthy — soup!

• 1 28-oz can tomato sauce • 1 28-oz can diced tomatoes, undrained • 2 cups chopped green peppers

Easy and Affordable: Transform a Pumpkin Into a Centerpiece!
IMPRESS YOUR GUESTS WITH A DIY PUMPKIN CENTERPIECE
Are you hosting Thanksgiving this year? Here’s an easy and affordable way to wow your guests: Turn a pumpkin into a centerpiece in just four steps!
1. CHOOSE A VASE. Look for one with a flared top and narrower base that can hold the ideal size of floral arrangement for your table.
2. PURCHASE A PUMPKIN. Make sure the pumpkin is roughly the same height as your vase or a little bit taller.
3. CUT A HOLE IN THE TOP OF YOUR PUMPKIN AND HOLLOW OUT THE INSIDE. The hole should be big enough for the thickest part of our vase to fit through. After hollowing, drop the vase inside. Its rim should line up with the hole you carved. 4. FILL THE VASE WITH FALL FOLIAGE. You can gather leafy branches, twigs, pine boughs, and pine cones outside or purchase fake ones! Stick to a fall color scheme of browns, reds, oranges, and yellows, or find items that match your table linens. Have fun and be creative!
