But the hard bands have been broken. 1 do want the Lord Jesus now. I take Him to bè my Saviour.” Turning to the group she asked shy ly, and there was more thàn the glow of the firelight on her face now, “ Won’t you sing the chorus again? I refused to sing when you did, but I want to sing, now, ‘For He Is a Won derful Saviour to Me.’ ” And once more those words of praise filled the night. Coiild there have been a more fit ting close to that week of conference? Could there have been a more com plete answer to prayer? . $ ÿ /♦ fi But those testimonies, w e r e givéft when perhaps hearts were moved by emotion, in the quietness of the hill retreat, in an atmosphere that was conducive to worship. Would the work last? Emotion is dangerous—unless it leads to action. - A few nights after thè conference closed, I walked into a mid-week service in one of the smaller churches in the city. I did not know that I , Would meet any one that I knew there. But, to my surprise, Barbara Blake hurried to greet me. Her words al most tripped ovér one another as She hastened to share with-me her joy. '* "I have been saved only â little over one week,” she explained, “ but I’ve had the biggest thrill of my life time.- I’ve known the joy of leading three others to know my Saviour!” I had sensed that her spiritual growth had been rapid, but did she really know what she was doing? Did she know how to~lèad a soul to Christ? After the service, I walked over to Speak to Barbara, as I had promised. She turned immediately and exclaim ed, ‘Td like you to meet two friends of mine.” The two girls acknowledged the introduction and then oqe asked, “Do you know why we are here? Be cause Barbara led us to Christ.” One look at the light on their faces, and 1 was' satisfied that it was so. “ But, Barbara,” I exclaimed, “you have just accepted the Lord yourself. How did you know how to lead an: other to Christ?” “I didn’t,” She said frankly, “but my heart was so full that I had to tell them what Jesus had done for me, and I said, ‘If you want; Him as your Saviour, you just do what I did.’ Then I turned to Romans 10:13. They obeyed His Word, believed, and were saved.” I could say no more. I could only marvel at the work of grace in that young life. It was my privilege to see, in the

[Continued, from Page 165] Without waiting for a planned pro gram, the young people started to tes tify. One after another told of what Christ had come to mean to them in the days spent in that quiet retreat. Barbara Blake, w h o s e testimony earlier'In the conference had silenced the slightest doubt of her salvation, was among the first to say a word for Him. As she spoke, the very sim plicity of her words compelled atten tion. "As for me,” she said, "I know that I’ll meet with nothing but defeat if I go trusting in my own strength and just try to be victorious. But I am go ing down from this hill, trusting in Christ to keep me. I have prepared a little symbol to keep the fact of my dependence on Christ ever before me. I am going to put this nail and match on a necklace and Wear it around my neck. If others ask me why I am wearing such an'odd necklace, as they doubtless will, I will tell them be cause I have accepted Christ as my Saviour and my Lord. This is to re mind me that by trusting Him I will gain victory over.all the things of the world and the devil. "And,” she went on, “if any of you have thought that the match will get dirty by my wearing it and handling it—remember the nail still stays clean. When the match gets dirty, I can change it and put a clean one in its place and that is just what Jesus Will do for me if I obey. For the Bi ble says, ‘If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all un righteousness.’ ” I was filled with amazement, but with joy, too, as I listened to her tes timony. Still but a child in Christ, she saw this truth! The evening wore on and the hour grew late, but it seemed that the young people could not stop speak ing, until fifty-four had testified to saving faith in Christ and to the fact that their trust was in Him for their strength against the enemy of souls. But Millie Sat still. The others be gan to sing the chorus, “For He ^s a Wonderful Saviour to Me.” She did not join in and I saw the conflict of her heart mirrored in her face. I was praying earnestly that Millie would surrender. Suddenly she began to sob and started to her feet, in a trembling voice, she said, “I have been set against the Lord. I didn’t want Him for my Saviour. I have gone to church after church, but I have found noth ing tb satisfy me. I have loved the pleasure of the world, and I have been determined that God’s Word would not influence me. I came up here for
