Tribal Gaming Operating Expenses The COVID-19 pandemic forced all Tribal casinos to close completely in April 2020. Starting in May, Tribal casinos started to open, but not altogether. The closings and reopening’s of Tribal casinos at different dates throughout 2020, impacted what was spent in operating expenses in the year. When compared to what was spent in 2019 vs. 2020, operating expenses fell from $15,909,599,563 to $11,644,055,563, which represents a drop of (36.6%).
Because Tribal casino operations spending declined in 2020, the economic impacts from it show jobs falling (63,201), labor income dropping to ($1,464,475,971), value added sinking (2,480,196,423), and output declining by ($6,851,928,922), when compared to 2019.
2020 Impacts In 2020, Indian Gaming enterprises and their ancillary businesses engaged in purchases of goods and services for their operations saw overall employment gains of 134,488 jobs, $8,043,397,494 in labor income, $13,277,573,257 in value added and produced an overall economic output of $22,711,255,483.
