Indian Gaming by Region All 29 states with Tribal casinos suffered a decline in annual revenues due to impacts caused by the pandemic in 2020. There was a total of 254 Tribal Governments operating 524 gaming facilities in 29 states. In 2020, the Tribal gaming industry had its first significant drop in revenue, which has seen its revenues grow from $11.0B in 2000 to $34.6B in 2019, before tumbling to $26.4B in 2020. At the start of 2020, Tribal gaming operations and ancillary facilities supported 284,646 ongoing direct jobs. As the COVID-19 virus spread and Tribal casinos closed in April, the casinos ongoing jobs number fell to 27,790. This represented a drop of (90%). Although COVID-19 disrupted Tribal gaming in many ways, the industry still generated significant economic activity when measuring the wages that were paid to Tribal gaming employees and what casinos spent in operating expenses. In 2020, the industry recorded an overall economic output of $54.3 billion. This represents an economic output of $18.0 billion on the Indian reservations where their gaming enterprises are located and an economic output of $36.3 billion off the reservation.
