Giving Hope & Help will attend your troop meetings within 20 miles of the KC Metro Area. Giving Hope & Help supports domestic violence survivors, provides essential resources to end period poverty, empowers college-bound and non-traditional students and inspires cancer patients, lifting all those we serve to live their best life. To schedule your troop’s program, contact Jessica McClellan at donate@givinghopeandhelp.com or call 816-507-9760. Cost: $14 per girl for each workshop.

Animal Habitats Badge Workshop

Come explore animal habitats with JCCC Zoology faculty! We’ll use a variety of indoor and outdoor (weather permitting) activities and specimens to investigate the clues that tell us which animals live in which habitats and learn more about the habitats in which we live here in Kansas and Missouri. We’ll also identify threatened and endangered habitats and consider why they’re at that point. Finally, we’ll create a toad house to take home to create microhabitat for these helpful, local backyard animals. JCCC Patch included!

Virtual Experience Claster Educational Services guides students and families step-by-step so they are well-prepared and confident as they navigate the college admissions process. Education on Menstruation and Period Poverty

Explore what it means to become a woman. Girls will learn about menstruation and what changes their bodies go through, what period poverty is, and how access to period products creates confidence, education, empowerment, and dignity. Girls will also receive a Giving Hope & Help Patch and $40 worth of products to manage their menstrual cycle. Length: 45-minutes - 1 hour

Your Girl Scout Experience and the College Search

College Essay Strategies for Girl Scouts

A strong college entrance essay could make all the difference! Girls will learn to write an effective personal statement and great supplemental essays that showcase their knowledge and skills gained through Girl Scouts. Optional: A special Girl Scout rate is available for an individual follow-up to get feedback on your draft essay. Min/Max: 6/NA This is Only a Test: Standardize Tests & Test-Optional Admissions

Girls will learn what colleges are looking for and how the Girl Scout experience can inform the college search and make them stronger candidates in the admissions process. The workshop covers Steps 1, 2 and 3 of the College Knowledge badge. Min/Max: 6/NA College Application Strategies for Girl Scouts Ambassadors applying to college will receive guidance on sharing their Girl Scout experiences, including the Gold Award, to help them stand out in the admissions process. Optional: A special Girl Scout rate is available for an individual follow-up to get feedback on your draft application.

Min/Max: 5/NA Building Healthy Relationships

This workshop is designed to empower girls by teaching them that they are valued, unique, and deserving of healthy relationships. It empowers kindness and emphasizes self-worth, respect, and the importance of making positive choices in their personal connections. By the end of the workshop, participants will be able to identify the qualities of healthy vs. unhealthy relationships. Girls will also receive a Giving Hope & Help Patch and $40 worth of products to manage their menstrual cycle. Length: 45-minutes - 1 hour

Girls will explore the latest trends in college admissions testing and test-optional admissions and discover resources to help them choose the right test and prep plan for them.
