Animal Wonders

Animal Wonders will attend your troop meeting. Animal Wonders has been a proud Community Partner with Girl Scouts since 2009 offering a variety of animal, conservation, ecology, and nature programs to enhance appreciation and understanding of the natural world. Animal Wonders brings the program to troops at a location of your choice! Cost is $12 per Girl Scout. Animal Wonders will not charge a travel charge for events scheduled within a 50-mile radius of Holden, Missouri. Additional charges occur beyond that radius. Cost includes a program with lots of live animals, exciting work that applies directly toward accomplishing the badge selected. Pets Badge Workshop

Fly with Amelia

Girl Scouts will learn the stories of the animals, how to properly care for these unique species, how to make a responsible decision on a non-traditional pet, research techniques, and so much more. Troop leaders can decide and work with Animal Wonders to meet at a location of choice that will allow for the animals. Allow for approximately 2 hours.

Girls will explore exciting STEM concepts through 14 engaging, interactive exhibits. They’ll investigate the science and technology that shaped aviation history and discover how innovation con- tinues to impact our world today. For an enhanced experience, consider adding our Virtual Reality flight simulation that recreates Amelia Earhart’s historic transatlantic flight.

Girl Scouts will learn about the various ecosystems and habitats and meet live examples from Animal Wonders. Girls will learn the basics of each species and animal habitats, how to help/protect endangered habitats, which species are habitat specialists, learn about local natural habitats, and discuss current and extinct spe- cies in the local region. Animal Wonders can meet at any location of choice that will allow for the animals. Allow for approximately 2 hours. Min/Max: 8/NA Eco Trekker & Eco Explorer Badge Workshop

Challenge Island® partners with Girl Scout councils nationwide to offer fully interactive, hands-on STEAM workshops for girls of all ages! Bugs Badge Workshop

Girls will learn the basics about animals without backbones, meeting a variety of unique species of live arachnids, insects, and crustaceans from a variety of ecosystems. Girl Scouts will discuss why, and which species are beneficial, which species are harmful, life cycles, and more. Allow for approximately 2 hours.

Girls will discuss the habitats around them, identify species, learn how they can improve and/or preserve the habitats to benefit the life within. The hike can take place at a location of the troop lead- er’s choice; recommendations and suggestions of best locations can be given upon request. Allow for approximately 2 hours

Trail Adventure

Automotive Engineering Triple Badge Workshop

Girl Scouts will learn how to be an advocate for animals in need, both wild and captive. Using the live ambassador animals of Ani- mal Wonders, Girl Scouts will learn about their stories and learn to keep non-traditional pets safe and properly cared for. Girls Scouts will also discuss endangered species and habitats and learn what they can do in their region to protect, preserve and become better stewards of their natural world. Allow for approximately 2 hours.

Animal Wonders teaches girls to identify wildlife by sight, sound, and scent; log sightings for scientific research; and observe animal behavior and migration. Troop leaders choose hiking location (rec- ommendations available). Can work toward Numbers in Nature or Outdoor Adventurer badges for Daisies/Brownies. Duration: approximately 2 hours.

Girls will explore the history of the automotive industry and learn about vehicle parts, design, and safety features while designing and producing their very own vehicle. Length: 3 hours (can be split over multiple meetings).
