The Queen’s Awards for Enterprise are the most prestigious awards for UK businesses, designed to recognise outstanding achievements. Anacarda is delighted and extremely proud to have received the prestigious Queen’s Award for Enterprise in the Innovation category for its specialist phenalkamine products offered under its Cardamine brand. Anacarda Ltd is an innovative polymer designer and supplier of specialist bio-based curing agents for epoxy resins derived from sustainable feedstocks. Anacardium occidentale, the cashew nut tree, and the name of the tree that bears the fruit and nut from which a unique substituted phenol is extracted for this product range, was the inspiration for the name of the company. Pioneers in the field This specialist business was set up by three entrepreneurs, all with a deep rooted interest in high performance chemistry derived from sustainable feedstocks, and providing alternative solutions to
they would recognise and value the attributes and environmental benefits the new products offered. Cardamine grades are used in a wide variety of applications, especially in industrial and marine protective coatings. In keeping with UN initiatives and targeting Sustainable Development Goals, the Cardamine grades tick a multitude of boxes aside from their green sustainable feedstock and high bio- based carbon content. These materials not only satisfy new regulations, but they also provide exceptional cure response under low temperatures and adverse conditions. They have been formulated to be robust enough for use in a broad number of climatic conditions and, as such, allow formulation of systems that can be successfully employed all over the globe. The cured films exhibit outstanding hydrophobicity and subsequent corrosion protection, extending the life of the coated substrates. Market leaders Paul Jones FRSC, Managing Director – and already a proud Queen’s Award recipient for innovative products developed for Bitrez Ltd – said:“I’m delighted that Anacarda has won the Queen’s Award for Enterprise, especially in the Innovation category. “The design and development of technically advanced products that are free from volatile organic materials, substances of very high concern, and derived from sustainable feedstock is at the heart of the Anacarda business ethos. “With greater interest in creating and maintaining a circular economy, and with due consideration of the UN Sustainability Development Goals, we set up this business purely to develop bio-based materials.
