provided for and that the results of the convention will be far reaching in in- fluence. The Institute will be well represent- ed and our prayers will be incessant for God's richest blessing upon the meeting. THE NEW BUILDING Messrs. Walker & Vawter have been chosen as Architects for our .building and have been giving several months to the preparatory work. Work is progressing on the lot, the buildings are being removed, the two larger ones being transferred to a lot on Fifth street hill, the work of excavation is in the hands of Mr. "John Lowe and will be pushed forward with due.diligence. The erection of the Institute building will demand the expenditure of a large sum of money and we earnestly covet con- tinual prayer that the need may be sup- plied as required. THE BIG BROTHER WORK At the request of the management at the new Juvenile Hall, as it is called, a mid-week meeting was started on Thursday night the 18th, and has been continued each week since, giving add- ed opportunity to meet and gain the confidence of the boys who are held there. The average attendance at each meeting for the month has been 56. During the month we have come in contact with 16 new boys and 10 of them have confessed Christ as their Saviour. Work was found for four boys and two provided with wheels with to go to work. One new boy was placed under a Big Brother. The Lord con- tinues to bless the work richly to His glory and a number of older people are being blessed as well as the boys. Respectfully submitted, DONALD YOUNGKEN, Supt. BIBLE WOMEN The Bibi8"*women are constantly re- minded of the truth that their plans are subject to Divine control. A short time ago one of our women just missed an interurban train, much to her annoy- ance, as she had an important engage- ment for which she regretted the half hour's postponement. Why her relia- ble time piece should have failed her at this time was hard to understand. As she resignedly seated herself, a young woman next to her expressed sym- pathy which led to a conversation. This

educated, refined young woman proved to be in sad need of Christian ministry. Deserted by her faithless husband, need- ing to support herself, away from God, ignorant of His mercy and love, sad and discouraged, our blessed Lord had ar- ranged that her path should be crossed by that of one of our spirit-filled wo- men who was and has been used to bring peace to the sad heart, salvation to her soul, and to direct her into a safe place of support. God had His purpose in that half hour of waiting. One of our Bible women in her visi- tation work, found a family who were in pressing need of comfort and relief. The father, instead of supplying the family with necessities was squander- ing his money on his own selfish desires. The wife and children, drifting into a condition of indifference and unbelief, were hopeless and wretched. Permis- sion was granted in a half-hearted way, to hold a parlor Bible Class in the home, by which means interest in the Word of God was aroused, the Spirit of God brought conviction and salva- tion and the miracle of transformation was wrought. After a few weeks the husband's curiosity drew him home where, from the adjoining room he heard the lessons, was deeply convicted also of his sin and openly confessed the Lord Jesus as his Saviour. Last week the Bible Woman after an urgent invitation, visited the home, where she found a new piano and many comforts, while the husband and father declared that no more of his money should go to pool rooms, but his family was to get the full benefit of all he should earn. They would together serve the God who had mercifully saved them and he would at once begin systematic Bible study at the Institute. BARRETT-WHITCOMB MEETINGS AT SANTA PAULA Last month Fishermen Club Evangel- ists Barrett and Whitcomb held a suc- cessful series of young people's meetings in Santa Paula. Quite a large number of young people either accepted Christ for their Saviour, or surrendered to Him as Lord and Master. The morning prayer circles and Bible studies each af- ternoon, were especially blessed of God. The subjects of the Bible studies were as follows: Four lessons on the Holy Spirit; Bible Study and Methods of Study; Prayer; Three Lessons on Satan, and the Believer's Hope or the Second Coming of Christ.
