ON THE COVER
TARIFFS AND WHERE WAS IT MADE Let's pass on any discussion about tariffs other than to say that we have been doing this for almost 30 years. And at no time in the past has pricing been so unstable. We appreciate your patience while we work our way through this chaotic time. With regard to where parts are made, we do have a bit to say. Many of the parts we stock are manufactured in Mexico, China, Turkey, Austria, Italy, Germany, Japan – you name it. This is a world economy. We get this question often, “I am considering a Gates water pump (42271). It was featured in the previous catalog. The pump fits the ’19-’25 engine models and runs $66.95. Is this a good pump? Do you use them in your trucks? Where is it made? Why is the Mopar version (68569196AA) so much more expensive ($550.00)?” Our response is that the Gates item is produced in China. It is a good product, or we would not be offering it. Yes, we do use the Gates pumps in our trucks. Need another example of a part that performs well with no brand recognition? Check out the fuel shutoff solenoid (SA-4981, $99.95). This is a generic part manufactured overseas, but it performs well and is cost effective.

Next, consider the Cummins fuel transfer pump for the ’94-’98 trucks (4988747, $175.95). Hey, it is a Cummins part, but it is manufactured in China. Compare it to the PAI pump (180105, $56.95, country of origin unknown). They both work well. Each item in the catalog has been reviewed by the staff to give you a good value. In today’s market, some of these “best value” items are subject to wild price fluctuations and come from overseas. The staff in the picture is just trying to maintain a bit of sanity and fairness to you in these topsy-turvy times.
