If you price these parts over-the-counter at Mopar the cost is $250 plus $40 for the cleaning solution. Using your trusty Owner’s Manual you may have noted that changing-out the crankcase vent filter (CCV) is a required service. Following is a summary of when to perform this service on the Ram pickup trucks - please reference your Owner's Manual. '07.5-'12 Pickups and Cab & Chassis: 67,500 miles Replace CCV filter; Check and clean the EGR valve and cooler '13-'18 Pickups: 67,500 miles EGR3-B (without Filter): $77.95
Replace CCV filter; Check EGR valve and cooler - cleaning not required at first service interval (We asked the folks at Cummins and they responded that you may wish to include the cleaning, but it is typically not needed until the second crankcase vent filter change at 135,000 miles. Cummins did suggest an inspection of the EGR valve. “Sooty/dusty is good, shellac/crusty needs to be cleaned.” If the valve is shellac/crusty, don’t skimp, go ahead and do the entire EGR system cleaning.) Do you trust your truck’s indicator when it comes to the air filter’s restriction level? Or, if your truck isn’t so equipped, do you wish you could monitor the air filter’s status? Fleetguard has introduced its FIT air restriction indicator, which will monitor the air filter status in real time. Its instant reading provides an accurate check on filter restrictions and eliminates air cleaner over-service. The sensor has a built in LED-indicator light that will stay lit when power is applied. A green light indicates a clean (low level of restriction) filter, a yellow light for when some contamination is detected, and a red light for significant contamination. The kit comes with instructions and the necessary hardware for installation in the factory air box, whether your truck came with or without the mechanical indicator.
