to th e disciples and they all d rank of it. (Nowhere in th e accounts of the Lord’s Supper is th e “w ine” used, but “cup” or “ fru it of th e vine,” so th a t fresh, unferm ented grape juice fulfils all th e conditions of th is observance, and is even a more perfect symbol th an ferm ented wine.— Peloubet’s N otes.) And He said to them , th is is My blood, which is shed for th e forgiveness of sins. He m eant th a t th e grape juice was like H is blood, and stood for it, because His blood was soon to be shed, like the blood of th e sacrifices a t th e altar, so th a t all who believed in Him m ight have th e ir sins forgiven. Then Jesus told these disciples to meet to gether afte r H is death, and to ea t the bread and drink the grape juice in the same way th a t He had shown them , and th a t as often as th ey did th is they would be rem embering Him. All we th a t love Jesu s come together in th e church today and have the Lord’s Supper. Re member it was Jesu s who told us to have it,, and H e said, “This do in remembrance of me.” This is our mem ory verse and we w ant to learn it so well th a t we will always rem ember it, and th a t Jesus said these words, so th a t whenever we see th e broken bread
in th e Lord’s Supper, it means H is body, wounded and naiied to the cross. And whenever we see th e grape juice in th e cup or glass, it means H is blood, poured ou t of th e wounds in H is hands and His side. Jesu s also told them th a t whenever th ey came togeth er for th is Supper, they would be rem em bering th a t He died for them , and all th a t love Jesus will keep on having th is L o rd ’s Supper un til Jesu s comes back again. A fter th is supper th e disciples felt very sad, and Jesu s told them not to be sad, for He was going back to heaven to get a place ready for them , and for every single person who would love H im and keep His Word, for it is th e ones who keep His Word, th a t is do w hat His Word says, th a t really love Jesus. Then He prom ised to send His Holy Spirit into th e ir h earts as a Helper, to make them remember and understand everything He had told them . The Holy Spirit would stay w ith them and help them while He was away from them . Closing P ra y er: Dear Lord Jesus we th a n k Thee for loving us so much, and help us to show our love by doing w hat Thy Word tells us to do.
