“DING” DARLING DAYS Oct 18 - 24 “Ding” Darling Days’ Family Fun Day on Sunday, October 20, kicks off a week of eco-activities with all-free refuge tram tours, live wildlife presentations, hot dogs, kid crafts and more. The Endangered Species & Wildlife life-size puppets presentation will highlight the day, featuring the work of Heather Henson, daughter of the late Muppets creator Jim Henson. Birding, boating, tram, paddleboarding and kayaking are activities that fill the week with fun. www.DingDarlingSociety.org.

WORKING WATERFRONT WALKING TOUR Every Wednesday The Working Waterfront Walking Tour is held every Wednesday, and costs $15 for adults and $10 for youths. The tour starts at 9 AM and is a three-hour guided tour held every Wednesday that educates the public about the Marine Science Center and the commercial fishing industry. Fifty Semi-Finalists will be selected to compete in Fort Myers at the Crowne Plaza on Saturday, October 24, 2015. Fifteen Preliminary Judges will critique and grade the presentations and five presenters will be selected to make their pitch on stage in front of a live audience to five distinguished and highly successful business people for the chance to receive funding. Wed nes days IMAGES OF NATURE AT LOVERS KEY STATE PARK Nov 2-8 Join The Friends of Lovers Key where the Gulf of Mexico meets the pristine sands of Lovers Key State Park for a week of nature photography education and appreciation. Noted local photographers will offer on-site, two-hour workshops at the park. The week culminates on Sunday, with the Images of Nature Dinner and Silent auction, and presentation by National Geographic photographer Carlton Ward, Jr. Each weekday session is limited to 20 participants. Individual session tickets are $50, or tickets for all five sessions are $200. Park entry fees included with class session and specific additional equipment is required for some sessions. Attendees can learn about “Theodore Roosevelt: The Right Man At The Right Time,” aboard the lovely 47-foot ketch, Alondra, while voyaging through many magical islands, along the Southwest Florida coast. Be surprised by tales of Theodore Roosevelt’s incredible accomplishments and life. You’ll also see some of the islands he sailed through on his visit to this coast in search of a world record devilfish.
