ronmental president, said during a phone interview Nov. 23 that the weekend closure is just for the winter season. «This is only going to be fromDecember 1 toMarch 1,» he said, adding that Saturday opening for the transfer station will resume next spring and continue again during the summer and fall months. King said that the decision for Saturday closure during the winter months is a result of examining the amount of business done at the transfer station. There is very little resi- dential traffic at the site as most homeowners make use of the weekend transfer station hours. The transfer station will continue its busi- ness week opening hours from Monday to Friday. Anyone with stuff to bring in on a Saturday can take it to Laflèche Environmen- tal’s main site at Moose Creek. King noted the company is receiving good response

Residents and business owners in Russell Townshipwill need tomake sure to get all of their garbage outside and ready for pickup on their designated collection days during the winter. Otherwise, they will have to drive toMoose Creek to drop off any extra trash at the Laflèche Environmental site. The company, which owns andmanages the transfer collection station for Russell Township, will close off access to the station for weekend dumping onDec. 1.The station remains open Monday to Friday during its usual hours for garbage collection contrac- tors and also for residents bringing in appro- ved materials for dumping.

– Alexandra Montminy
