INTER-COMPETITION On Tuesday 22nd October 2019 Year 5 and 6 took part in a day of competition. Working to earn points for their houses; Morris, Jordan, Moore and Seaton. The theme of the day was ‘teamwork’, one of the key values or soft-skills that we teach through PE & school sport at Abbey and across our curriculum. Orienteering was the chosen activity for the day. The children had worked together to complete an outdoor orienteering course using a map and an indoor challenge using a compass. Whilst the children raced around together in a bid to complete each challenge, it was clear that they needed no encouragement to give it their all. The competitive nature of our Year 5 and 6 children was clear for all to see - and so was the enjoyment on their faces! A fantastic day from start to fi nish with all four houses amassing whopping score totals. House winners for the say were: "Orienteering was really fun!! It was nice to have the chance to try something new and do things we wouldn't usually do. I want to do it again, I can't wait!" MW Year 5. "I enjoyed working with people that I wouldn't usually work with. We worked well as a team and used good communication skills to listen to each other and make sure everyone had a fair say. It was really fun competing against children in our own school." KW Year 6. Thanks to Miss. Hinton for the story. Y5: MORRIS Y6: MOORE
