THE

Victorious Role play day

GETTING STUCK IN Children in Year 1 have enjoyed a fun-packed Victorian experience. During the morning sessions, Miss Gill transformed into the ‘Baker’ and worked hard with the children to produce a tasty bread roll to enjoy at home. Mrs. Donnelly became the strict Victorian teacher - ‘Miss Donnelly’ (female teachers were not permitted to marry). The children practised Copperplate handwriting and copied stitch work, to produce a fancy sampler. Some children understood the joke about her wooden ruler named ‘Victoria’, as she was a wonderful ruler! Miss Hinton was the disciplined P.E teacher who put the children through their paces with traditional Victorian drill practice. After lunch, the atmosphere was a lot more relaxed with children enjoying playing parlour games; working together to make paper chains; playing with wooden toys and producing their own stick puppets. A big thank you to all of those who made a huge effort to make this a splendid and truly memorable day for all – including parents, who dressed their children in brilliant Victorian costumes.

Thanks to Mrs. Donnelly for the story.
