THE

Boccia KS1 ball battle

TEAM COMPETITION On Thursday 5th December, KS1 hosted a competition day. Each class was divided into their house colours and took part in a new sport called Boccia. Boccia is a Paralympic sport, similar to Boules. A ‘jack’ is played onto the court and teams battle it out to get their ‘Boccia balls’ closest to the jack. At the end of the game the winning team get points for every ball they have closer to the jack than the opposing team. The children really enjoyed learning about the diversity of the Paralympics and how the game of Boccia is played. As soon as the competition had begun the enthusiasm and excitement was clear to see. The children cheered each other on and played with big smiles on their faces. At the end of the day the children came together to fi nd out which house scored the most points. All participants received a sports award for their efforts.

Well done KS1! Scores:

Year 1: Joint 1st place - Red, Yellow & Blue. 2nd Place - Green

Year 2: 1st Place - Yellow. 2nd Place - Green. Joint 3rd Place - Red & Blue
