Teeth Whitening Gum

Is it Effective?

Today, there are more teeth whitening options than ever before. Between all of the whitening strips, toothpastes, mouthwashes, and chewing gums, it can be a challenge to find products that work and are worth the investment in both time and money. People want simple ways to keep their teeth looking great between regular dental appointments. One increasingly popular option is teeth whitening gum. It’s marketed as a convenient way to whiten your teeth throughout the day. The question is, can teeth whitening gum really help you maintain an illustrious smile between office visits or instead of other at-home options? The answer is in the fine print. There are many brands of whitening gum that promise whiter teeth in a matter of weeks. One popular brand of whitening gum references a study conducted on that gum as to the effectiveness of its whitening power. A closer look reveals that the study determined that, in order to achieve noticeable results, a person has to chew a piece of gum in 12-minute intervals five times per day — for 12 weeks.

That would mean you would have to chew 420 pieces of this gum over a three-month period in order to notice any change. For some people who love gum, this might be a realistic endeavor, but for most people, it’s unlikely you would achieve the results you truly want. And don’t forget, many teeth whitening gums rely on artificial sweeteners and flavorings. For people who are looking for better results between appointments, whitening strips, toothpaste, or mouthwash will be more effective — either independently of one another or used together for maximum effectiveness. If you’re looking for at-home teeth whitening solutions that are simple, effective, and free of erosive chemicals and additives, look no further than the Oral Essentials line of products. You can find them online at OralEssentials.com and at many retailers across the U.S.
