FOLLOWING HIS STEPS

[Continued from page 333] He spent the silent hours of the night in communion with His Father. But the Mount of Olives also stands for His ascension and His coming reign. It was from that mount that He ascended, and are we not told by the prophet Zecha- riah that when He returns to earth His feet shall stand upon the Mount of Olives? In that day, He will be seen as the King of kings and Lord of lords. He went to the Mount of Olives in the days of His flesh because He was despised and rejected of men—the unwanted One. But He is coming back to the very same spot, and then solitude will be changed into sov ereignty. I nto G lory From the Mount of Olives, we follow His steps into glory itself, for He went from the mount into the presence of His Father, and here we discover Him sitting in the heavenlies. Is it not blessed to know that we who are His are with Him there now in respect to our position? For He “made us sit together in heavenly places in Christ Jesus,” and even today we must learn how to look down upon the things of earth from this vantage point. Too often we speak about looking out and looking up, but that is the wrong attitude altogether, for in re spect to our position, we are not down here —we are with Him in the heavenlies, and we must look down and around. It may be that as we, by faith, plant our feet in His footprints and follow Him in the way indicated, understanding the spirit ual implication of all these places we have referred to, a literal and more intimate re lation to them may one day be ours. When the Lord Jesus Christ returns to earth and we assist Him in His governmental con trol of the nations, who knows but that our service for Him may be rendered in some of these very spheres that stand out so con spicuously in the earthly life and ministry of our blessed Lord? W orld ’ s Christian Fundamentals Association Conference fo r 1938 The 1938 annual meeting of the World’s Christian Fundamentals Association will be held in the Walnut Street Baptist Church, Waterloo, Iowa, from May 1 to 8. A unani mous invitation was extended to the Asso ciation by the annual conference of the Iowa Christian Fundamentals Association last spring, and soon afterwards the con gregation of the Walnut Street Baptist Church of Waterloo also sent an urgent in vitation. This church, of which P. B. Chenault is pastor, is the largest Baptist church in Iowa. The 1938 gathering of
