They may be people’s best friends, but dogs are banned from municipal parks in Champlain Township, a fact that some pet owners have either forgotten or dis- regarded. The issue was discussed at a recent township recreation committee, which has suggested that signs pro- claiming the canine ban be posted at all municipal parks. As this sign in Hawkes- bury’s Confederation Park makes clear, dogs are not welcome in town parks, either. However, plans are moving for- ward for the creation of a dog park in Hawkesbury. Ameeting on the proposed facility, earmarked for a town lot on Hig- ginson Street, east of the town hall, will be held August 26 at 6 p.m. at the town hall.
