Making You A Hero To Your Family And Business

From the Yolofsky Office

Spring is almost here! The seasons do change,

even in South Florida. Our snowbirds are headed north and hopefully no hurricanes will be headed west. The systemic impact of the Coronavirus outbreak is still being felt. Our connected world is only as strong as the weakest link. For weeks, we watched as one community after another was affected physically, financially, or both. Situations like this may occur again in the future. This situation should remind us about our preparedness plans for ourselves and our business.

ARE YOU READY TO TAKE A RISK? Navigating the Road to Entrepreneurial Success

Are any of us ready for the possibility of having to stay at home for 14 days?

Generally, we aren’t as prepared as we should be. It’s easy to forget about having a proper plan in place when you aren’t facing any pressure or potential hardships. Now is a good time to adjust your plan and prepare for what might come next.

of your effort into your dream. When you’re starting a brand-new business, you need to be plugged in every single day and every waking hour. If you’re not ready to devote all your time, then you’re not ready to start a business. Building something that’s going to be around for many years to come means committing all your time from the beginning. That’s the only way your venture will grow and survive.

Many aspiring entrepreneurs say they can’t wait to go into business for themselves because of the freedom they’ll have. They dream about starting their own business, but they dream even bigger about the two-week vacations they’ll take. The hard truth is that those rewards come at the very end — not the beginning. If you want to start a business and build it up so you do have that freedom, then you need to be realistic about the sacrifices you’re going to have to make.

We’ll see you next month!

If being an entrepreneur guaranteed a life of luxury, then everyone would be one. But taking the risk of starting your own business doesn’t always mean you’ll become wealthy. That’s why it’s a risk. Plenty of other jobs can

When you’re an entrepreneur, there’s no such thing as free time. If you have time to run off and do things that have nothing to do with your business, then you’re not putting 100%

make you a lot more money. In many cases, entrepreneurs struggle for years to find success. In many more cases, they never find it. When you start your own business, you’re the one responsible for keeping it alive, meaning anything you make has to right go back into it, leaving little left for you. You need to be willing to sacrifice your rewards.

FEAR OF FAILURE

This might seem easy to sacrifice. No one likes feeling fearful. Yet fear of failure is the biggest crutch that business owners and entrepreneurs use to stay safe and complacent.“If you never try, then you never fail”is a mentality that kills your ideas before they can blossom into reality. But if you want to become a real entrepreneur, the kind who puts everything into building something they’re passionate about, then you must sacrifice the comfort of fear. Failure is going to happen in some form or another. It’s inevitable. The sooner you realize that, the easier it is to fight it. This is the hardest sacrifice of them all. Dedicating so much time to the work you do means that holding onto friends becomes a challenge. Some friends will be detrimental to your mission, and you’ll have to let them go. But family is a different story. Family is essential because they’ll be there for you through everything. It’s about finding balance. At the end of a long day, go home and spend time with your family — you’re going to need their support. However, be ready to stay up until the early FRIENDS AND FAMILY

morning hours to make up for that time. Occasionally, you’ll have to choose your work over spending time with your family. Are you prepared to make that sacrifice? The price of great success is higher than most people can afford. But if your dreams are waiting for you on the other side of that success, then don’t hesitate about the risks it takes to get there. For those who’ve done it, the risk of never having the life they wanted far outweighed everything else.

WHEN SHOULD YOU TEACH YOUR CHILD TO READ? And How Should You Do It?

While the answers to these questions will vary from child to child, there’s one goal that every parent should strive for when teaching their child to read: Above all, help them enjoy it. When your child starts kindergarten, learning to read will be a part of the curriculum. This doesn’t mean you shouldn’t try to teach them to read earlier, though. If your child loves to read, it can make their learning experience much more enjoyable. There are plenty of ways to help your child enjoy reading from an early age. One is to simply read to them and make storytime fun. If the pig goes oink or the mailman has a funny, nasally voice, bring those features to life. You can also have your kids help you with daily tasks that require reading, like making a to-do list or shopping at the grocery store. When they’re helping you and having fun, it won’t feel like learning at all! Finally, the best way to make reading enjoyable for your children is to enjoy it yourself. Your kids watch what you do, and if they see you enjoying a good book, they’ll want to read even more. Reading opens up the world to them, and with your help, nothing will dull their love of learning.

If your child is between 3–5 years old, you’ve probably noticed that they’re becoming a lot more talkative. By the time children are 4, they can usually speak in 5–8-word sentences. That makes this age range the perfect time to get your child interested in reading. However, this can raise a lot of questions. For starters, the question of how to get your child interested in reading is almost more important than when you do it. You may wonder how much time you should spend reading with them, how intensive reading time should be, and if you should make everything involving words and letters into a reading lesson.

An important goal during Keep America Beautiful Month is to spread awareness about recycling. There are various ways to educate those around you about recycling and encourage them to do their part. At home, you canmake a commitment with your family to fulfill the three R’s of recycling: reduce, reuse, recycle. Laughter Yoga’s Rise as a Global Health Movement PAGE 4

Laugh With Me! A Lighthearted Approach to Decreasing Stress

a local park. Parkgoers, who were initially skeptical, joined in on the practice, and the first laughter yoga club was born. The laughter meetup had everyone in high spirits — until the group ran out of jokes. Unsure of what to do next, Kataria found another medical book suggesting the group didn’t need jokes to laugh. Fake laughter is just as beneficial as the real thing because the body can’t tell the difference between the two. Collaborating with this wife, Madhuri, Kataria combined common yoga warmups and breathing techniques with facilitated laughter to create the form of laughter yoga that is practiced worldwide today. If you’re interested in trying laughter yoga for yourself, then you’re in luck. Laughter yoga clubs exist across the United States and the

We’ve all heard that laughter is the best medicine, and it turns out that human physiology supports this claim. When we laugh, our body releases a flood of feel-good chemicals and neurotransmitters. Our blood flow increases, and our production of cortisol, a hormone associated with stress, decreases. Oh, and laughing also burns calories! The feel-good, endorphin-inducing benefits of laughter are exactly what prompted Dr. Madan Kataria to develop laughter yoga in 1995. Laughter yoga incorporates breathing, stretching, clapping, and of course, laughing. Kataria developed the initial idea after coming across research into the benefits of laughter on overall health and well-being. He began to put the research into practice by telling jokes to his patients, and after seeing the positive effects, he took his material to

world. Videos on YouTube can teach the basics, but laughter yoga tends to be most beneficial in a group setting. Just think about the last time you found yourself in a fit of giggles with a group of friends or during a comedy show. Didn’t it feel great? Rather than wait for a silly situation to trigger laughter, use laughter yoga to promote laughter and alleviate stress on any day at any time.
