DETROIT™ BRANDED OIL that meets the MB 235.11 specification is the Detroit Synth 75W-90.
Per the DTNA Maintenance Manual, the Detroit™ DT12™ oil change interval is every three years/300,000 miles for vehicles below 80,000 lbs. Gross Combined Weight Rating (GCWR), and every two years/200,000 miles for vehicles above 80,000 lbs. GCWR. The oil fill plug washer and drain plug washer (PN: N007603024105) are one-time-use only. It is necessary to replace the washer after each removal of either plug. Torque on the oil fill and drain plugs is 60 N·m (45 lb·ft). ISSUE The oil filter bypass valve located on top of the oil filter stand pipe can break off during an oil filter replacement. The bypass valve is vital to properly filter oil through the engine. Operating an engine with a missing or damaged oil filter stand pipe and/or oil filter bypass valve could result in severe engine damage. . REQUIRED ACTION During routine maintenance and other repairs that require the removal of the engine oil filter, carefully inspect the oil filter stand pipe and the oil filter bypass valve. Visually inspect the oil filter bypass valve to ensure it is intact. If the oil filter stand pipe or the oil filter bypass valve is damaged, the stand pipe can be replaced with P/N: A4721860095.
