RECIPE

Mango Passionfruit Smoothie • 1 cup frozen banana • 1 cup frozen mango • 1 tablespoon coconut yoghurt • ½ teaspoon turmeric

Discover plant milk you make yourself, with a fraction of the sugar

and significantly less packaging.

• ¼ teaspoon ground ginger • 3 tablespoons Nimbus Oat or Soy Milk Powder

• 250 ml water • 1 passionfruit

“When I moved house, my new council would not take long-life one- litre beverage cartons for recycling,” says Nimbus founder Alexandra Bekker. “I then discovered that, no matter what the pack says, only 2.7 percent of these cartons are actually recycled*. So I got rid of them altogether.” Powder power “Nimbus is plant milk in powder form, so you add the water at home,” explains Bekker. “Just scoop, shake, and you have fresh oat or soy milk in seconds. It is a small change, but in practice it removes most of what makes plant milk wasteful: the weight, the packaging, the transport and, for smaller households - the half- carton that goes down the sink. “Taking the water out means around 90 percent less packaging than the equivalent cartons,” says Bekker. “To give an idea of what that looks like,

Place all ingredients except passionfruit in a blender and process. Spoon passionfruit into two glasses, then pour the

smoothie over the top.

•Skip the carton •Make only what you need •90% less packaging

1000 litres of Nimbus packaging fits in a small shopping bag; and, because you make only what you need, when you need it, nothing is left to go off. Nimbus travels well, which makes it a hit with campers and travellers. “Finally, as a mum of two young girls, using clean ingredients, calcium fortification, being low in sugar, and having no added seed oils or flavours was very important to me,” she adds. “Nimbus oat milk is 93 percent Australian oats with healthy avocado oil. The soy is made from protein-packed whole soybeans with a touch of coconut sugar to balance the taste.” *Source: The Australian Packaging Consumption & Recovery Data Report.
