LEGO ® Education SPIKE™ Prime is the new solution for teaching computer logic to students from 5 th to 8 th grade. Combining the ease of construction of LEGO ® with the Scratch drag-and-drop programming language, SPIKE™ Prime allows students to learn how to solve complex real-life problems while having fun, regardless of their level. Through simple projects or complex creative challenges, SPIKE™ Prime builds the skills to teach 21 st century innovators. In addition to introductory activities, the SPIKE™ App offers 45-minute lessons that develop critical thinking. These learning situations encourage risk-taking to find creative solutions, while learning from mistakes and seeing failure as a part of learning.

This training is as much for beginners in robotics as those who already know robotics and coding with Scratch. It allows you to get to know the new SPIKE™ Prime set and to master the basics of coding. Participants quickly build a first robot and code it ... just as their students will ! They leave more confident and ready to integrate various educational projects into their teaching.
Different challenges of construction and coding allow you to delve further into the mathematical aspect and the use of variables in robotics. Each problem-solving activity offers multiple solutions and allows you to explore the most advanced aspects of SPIKE™ Prime, while integrating other school subjects.

Unit Plans LEGO ® Education SPIKE™ Prime
SPIKE ™ Prime offers four learning units. These units are designed to develop critical thinking skills through complex, challenging and meaningful STEAM challenges based on stimulating themes.
Invention Squad Students apply their technical design skills by defining a problem and criteria for success. They realize different prototypes, establish systematic test procedures, analyze data to improve their solutions and justify the choice of the solution they have chosen.
Kickstart a Business Students develop efficient problem solving skills by breaking down problems into sub-problems. They use pseudocodes as a tool to sequence actions, and use conditions and compound conditions to program encoded devices.
Life Hacks Students design projects that combine hardware and software components. They create variables and lists representing different types of data and perform mathematical operations on their values. They use cloud data in order for them to be useful.
Competition Ready
Students discover the world of robotics competitions. To build an efficient robot, they analyze and perfect programs. The design process allows them to develop a solution to complete missions, while acquiring skills related to collaboration and teamwork. This unit requires the SPIKE ™ Prime Expansion Pack (2498384).
