Master Transportation Plan Task 4: Gap Analysis and Needs Network

Figure 1: Current Greater Fort Worth Area Population Context

By 2050, the Greater Fort Worth Area is projected to grow to approximately 4.38 million people. The City of Fort Worth alone is expected to reach a population of 1.54 million. Employment growth will also be significant. The region is projected to support 2.93 million jobs, including 719,181 jobs in Fort Worth by 2050. These projections highlight the scale of regional growth—and reinforce the importance of planning a transportation system that can support the movement of people, goods, and services across city and county boundaries.
