3.3.4. Surveys As part of the M1M engagement strategy, three surveys were implemented to capture diverse community input. First, an online survey served as the initial tool for broad outreach, gathering over 1,500 responses. However, results revealed demographic imbalances, with respondents skewing older, whiter, and concentrated in North/West Fort Worth. To address these gaps, in-person surveys were introduced at in-person community events and open houses, allowing real-time engagement with residents who might not participate online. Two versions were distributed, one focused on identifying traffic safety concerns and another measuring satisfaction with transportation modes. Both were available in English and Spanish. This multi-pronged approach allowed for a more representative dataset and strengthened the inclusivity of the planning process.

Digital Survey The Moving Around Today survey gathered input from over 1,000 respondents to better understand transportation behaviors, satisfaction levels, and priorities in Fort Worth. The results provided a snapshot of how residents travel, their perceptions of current infrastructure, and the most pressing challenges they face. Survey responses revealed that while transportation habits are dominated by driving, with 95% of respondents using a car as their primary mode and 82% driving daily, satisfaction with transportation infrastructure varies. Traffic congestion and poor road conditions emerged as pressing transportation issues, followed by limited public transit options and parking challenges.

Safety concerns are both behavioral and infrastructural, with distracted and aggressive driving topping the list, alongside issues like lack of sidewalks and poor lighting. Survey insights suggest a car-dependent city with major concerns about congestion, road maintenance, and pedestrian safety, while public transit and bike infrastructure remain underdeveloped and underutilized. When asked about priorities for improvement, respondents emphasized reducing congestion, improving roads, and expanding bike paths and parking availability. There’s strong support for improving roads and reducing congestion, but mixed views on transit expansion and bike paths. These insights will help guide future planning efforts to improve mobility, safety, and accessibility across the City.
