City-wide Engagement Opportunities
3.4.2. Community Priorities Feedback themes derived from the in-person and digital engagement opportunities helped define the communities’ top priorities, which emphasized safety, preservation of existing infrastructure, expanded transportation choices, and accessibility. The priorities include the following:
Community Priorities Infrastructure Improvements: Invest in infrastructure that adequately meetings the needs of a growing population. Pedestrian + Cyclist Safety: Develop / improve sidewalks, bike lanes, and crosswalks to improve mobility and safety. Improve Public Transit: Expand and enhance public transit options and access. Reduce Congestion: Improve / sync traffic lights and implement strategies to improve mobility. Community Involvement: Provide outreach to the community with information about transportation planning and incorporate feedback.
The MTP goals evolved to incorporate these priorities, creating goals that are not only aspirational but grounded in the realities of Fort Worth’s growth and mobility challenges. Starting with the Draft Vision and Goals, residents were invited to share feedback during multiple engagement touchpoints. Their input shaped the final direction identifying gaps, suggesting additions, and resulting in a Vision that reflects Fort Worth’s priorities. The result is a set of Goals grounded in shared values and a commitment to creating a transportation system that serves everyone.
