4.5.2. Regional Transportation Framework Fort Worth’s transportation plan is supported by a robust framework of local and regional plans that emphasize connectivity, accessibility, inclusiveness, economic resilience, and sustainability. The MTP aims to integrate insights, background information, and recommendations drawn from the City’s previous plans, policies, and programs that guide transportation in Fort Worth today. The following is a summary of the most relevant planning efforts.
Adopted in 2016 and updated in 2020, this plan guides the planning, development, and management of the city’s arterial network, emphasizing multimodal transportation, roadway classification, and land use integration to support growth. Master Thoroughfare Plan (MTP) MTP
Adopted in 2019, this plan envisions a connected and accessible network of sidewalks, trails, and bicycle facilities, prioritizing safety, opportunity, ADA accessibility, and seamless integration with MTP to enhance mobility and reduce reliance on vehicles. Active Transportation Plan (ATP)

The Safety Action Plan outlines Fort Worth’s approach to reducing and ultimately eliminating severe and fatal crashes. As the safety element of M1M, it identifies the streets with the highest crash risk and recommends design and operational improvements that make walking, biking, and driving safer across the city.
