One data point stands out as particularly telling. Downtown Fort Worth has the highest daytime-to-resident population ratio in the region at 5.80, meaning more than five daytime workers arrive for every one downtown resident. Dallas’s downtown, by comparison, has a ratio of 3.51, and other regional peers fall in the 1.87 to 2.81 range. Fort Worth’s downtown already functions primarily as a regional employment hub; it has simply not yet become the mixed- use, residential-and-commercial district that would allow that employment strength to anchor a denser, more vibrant urban core.
