The modeling showed that Build scenarios improve connectivity and reduce pressure on secondary roads, though several major corridors including I-35W, I-820, and portions of I-20 remain highly congested even with improvements, as shown in Figure 8.6 . In fast-growing areas, such as North Fort Worth and the airport area, the analysis identified bottlenecks that will continue without operational upgrades or expanded capacity. The review also found that increased connectivity helps reduce diversion to minor arterials, supporting more reliable travel across the network. Intersection-level operational analysis reinforced these findings by confirming that two key intersections, Old Denton Road at Westport Parkway and Chapin Road at Chapel Creek Boulevard, will not operate effectively under projected volumes. Signalization and geometric improvements offer the most effective solutions for long-term performance and freight movement, and these preferred alternatives have been incorporated into the program.
