1.4. Building the New Master Roadway Network The updated network is built from a defined set of core inputs that together form a single, consolidated representation of Fort Worth’s future roadway system. Figure 1.1 illustrates this framework and shows how these inputs flow into the updated Master Roadway Network. The resulting functional classifications within the network are discussed in the following section.
The Master Roadway Network update draws from four primary sources: ■ The 2020 Master Thoroughfare Plan network, which provides the foundation for Fort Worth’s long-range roadway structure. ■ TxDOT Federal Functional Classification System (FFCS) facilities classified as Major Collector or above. ■ New roadway connections identified through the Multimodal Gap Analysis, representing critical missing links and connectivity needs. ■ Staff and developer proposals reviewed and refined for consistency with MTP policies and planned system continuity. Together, these elements form a complete, consolidated roadway network that aligns future development patterns, modal priorities, and long-term system needs.
