NATIONAL NEWS: THE 34 TH ADMINISTRATION

An Evening Honoring Grand Polemarch Reuben A. Shelton III, Esq.

G rand Polemarch Reuben A. Shelton, III., Esq. was the guest of honor in the Middle Western Province of Kappa Alpha Psi during the last week of August 2019. Saint Louis (MO) Alumni Chapter and East Saint Louis (MO) Alumni Chapter pulled out all the stops during “An Evening Honoring Grand Polemarch Reuben A. Shelton, III., Esq.” on August 25, 2019. He was welcomed by over 800 brothers and guests dur- ing this magnificent reception in St. Louis, MO. The event was hosted by the St. Louis (MO) Alumni Chapter, and the East St. Louis (MO) Alumni Chapter respectively of the Middle Western Province and the North Central Province of Kappa Alpha Psi. The event was

Judge Jimmie Edwards, Director of the Public Safety Department, City of St. Louis. The Grand Polemarch was introduced by Grand Board of Directors Member Clifford D. Franklin. The Grand Polemarch began his eloquent and poignant address with a recitation of ‘Invictus’ by William Ernest Henley. The captivating rendition was met with enthusiasm and grace by the brothers present and it certainly estab- lished the tone for the 34 th Adminis- tration of Kappa Alpha Psi in Second Century Kappa. Something all the more exciting oc- curred when he discussed the impor- tance of our Kappa Silhouettes and widows. A effervescent voice came over the space and entered Concourse B, it

an auspicious gala affair held at the St. Louis Lambert International Airport Concourse B with family, fraternity, friends, food, cocktails, spirits and live music. The welcome was given by Brother Samuel G. Boyd, III, Polemarch of the Saint Louis (MO) Alumni Chapter fol- lowed by the invocation by Reverend Dr. Cary Beckwith of Wood River United Methodist Church. Brother Marcus Wright, Polemarch of the East Saint Louis (MO) Alumni Chapter, provided the occasion. NPHC recognition was given by Deborah Catchings-Smith, President of the Council of Presidents and 24 th International Grand Basileus of Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority, Inc. A proc- lamation was given by The Honorable Brian Williams, Missouri State Senator, District 14, followed by remarks from
