NATIONAL NEWS: THE 34 TH ADMINISTRATION
was the sound of the Grand Polemarch's voice as he stood at the podium offering a heartfelt rendition of the Pin Song and the Sweetheart’ Song. Naturally, broth- ers joined in, but those of us who were present will concur that Brother Grand Polemarch Shelton did not need any help at all. Without a doubt, he earnest- ly carried his own! The Grand Polemarch followed by referencing the theme of the 34 th Ad- ministration of Kappa Alpha Psi “Brother to Brother, Breaking Barriers, Building Bridges” by declaring, “I understand and value the importance of every brothers’ contribution to support Kappa Alpha Psi. Make no mistake about it, there is no one who will work as hard as I will and as long as I will to support Kappa Alpha Psi as your Grand Polemarch.” Finally, the evening culminated with the Grand Polemarch’s Toast led by our 60 th Laurel Wreath Laureate Brother- John E. Jacob, a fall 1954 initiate of the Howard University Chapter, the Xi of Kappa Alpha Psi and current mem- ber of the Saint Louis (MO) Alumni. Brother Jacob summed up the Grand Polemarch’s Toast by essentially high- lighting our Grand Polemarch’s acumen as a brother committed to a life of ser- vice to others as evidence by his talents as a superstar student athlete (KU Jayhawks Basketball Team Captain) on scholarship at the University of Kansas, his work earning a law degree from Saint Louis University School of Law and an MBA from Washington University. More importantly, Brother Jacob un- derscored Brother Grand Polemarch's, capacity and willingness to love, laugh, live and give. Brother Jacob spoke highly of Brother Shelton’s dedication to improving the St. Louis community through his giving to so many agencies and organizations in St. Louis. Brother Jacob referred to the many achievements of Brother Shelton such as his sterling commitment as Lead Senior Counsel at Monsanto, President of the Missouri Bar Association, Vice Chairman of the
