and didn't hesitate to write letters to officials, congress people, and presidents expressing his views. One of his recent battles included opposing lifetime terms for federal judges. He was frequently asked to provide the progressive view- point in debates arranged by the Kiwan- is. He served on many boards including ACLU, Phoenix Library, Arizona Lung Association, Arizona Commission on the Judiciary, and the Encanto - Palmcroft Homeowners Association. He was an excellent tennis player for almost 60 years, mostly frequenting the courts at Encanto Park or the Phoenix Tennis Center. He was a voracious reader despite having dyslexia and particularly appreciated Twain and Shakespeare. Jerry carried a strong sense of justice and always fought for equal- ity and rooted for the underdog. As he put it, "I'm very proud to have always represented the good guys." Brother Pollock is preceded in death by his parents, sister, Elizabeth Horowitz Moynihan, and son, Michael Alexander Pollock. He is survived by wife, Joellyn, daughter Maura (Jon) Moneyhon, son Matthew (Jaime) and daughter, Mikaela (Katheryna). He has 4 grandchildren: Mychal Anaya, Aidan Moneyhon, Talia and Anderson Pollock.
Science degree. He later obtained his Master of Science degree at the Uni- versity of Kansas in Lawrence, KS. He served as a 1st Lieutenant in the United States Air Force and was employed as a psychiatric social worker at the time of his retirement from the Department of Veteran Affairs Hospital. Brother Ridley was a Life Member of Kappa Alpha Psi ® and longtime member of the Topeka (KS) Alumni Chapter. He was a vital mentor to youth in the Topeka, KS community and a mentor to undergraduate brothers at Kansas State University Chapter, the Beta Psi of Kappa Alpha Psi ® and Washburn University Chapter, the Rho of Kappa Alpha Psi ® . Richard was a voracious reader, a home builder, real estate broker and appraiser. He was active in the Topeka Rotary Club. Brother Richard D. Ridley, Sr. is sur- vived by his wife of 67 years; Frances (Frey) Ridley; his sons Richard D. (Terri) Ridley II (Beta Psi 1975), Robert Guy (Cherie) Ridley; daughter, Teresa (Dan- iel) Ridley-Wellington; 3 grandchildren, Erica (Carl) Bell, Leah (Michael) Riley, Brandon Ridley; 4 great grandchildren, Geryson Riley, Alexander Riley, Carter Bell, Camryn Bell. —Kevin L. School in 1951. He volunteered for Medical Corps duty during the Korean War, where he was commissioned a Captain. He was a highly respected and much beloved member of the Springfield (MA) medical community, where he maintained a private practice of internal medicine and gastroenterology for more than 50 years and served on the staff of Baystate Medical Center. He was a member of many professional societies and actively educated the com- munity about illnesses particularly af- fecting minorities. He was a member of the Springfield (MA) Alumni Chapter of Kappa Alpha Psi ® as well as a member of the Urban League, NAACP, Spring- field Museums African Subcommittee, and The Brethren. He was a 62-year member of St. John's Congregational Church, where he organized the Healthy Life Ministry. Preceded in death by his parents and eldest son, Alonzo "Danny" Sheffield, Brother Sheffield is survived by his wife of 48 years, Claudine (Coulanges) Shef- field; three sons, Alan Sheffield, William Sheffield, and Reginald Sheffield; and two granddaughters, Lillia and Lorena.

Ridley was a lifelong resident of Topeka as well as a lifelong member of Calvary Baptist Church.
