2019 GUY L. GRANT AWARDEES

Christopher G. Cross

“Kappa Alpha Psi ® serves as an influential role in my life. I've had many experi- ences from being in Kappa League to my initiation into the fraternity and now serving as Junior Grand Vice Polemarch has aided my personal development. I strive to be an example of excellence and to personify the tenants of brotherhood, public service and achieve- ment. My goal is to have made this world a better place in which to live. And, in Kappa Alpha Psi we are doing our best in this undertaking.”

B rother Cross cur- rently serves as the 62 nd Junior Grand Vice Polemarch (JGVP) of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity Inc. He is a Spring 2016 initiate of the University of Mississippi Chapter, the Lambda Pi of Kappa Alpha Psi ® . Before becoming Junior Grand Vice Polemarch, he served as a member of the South Central Province Board of Directors, a member of the South Central Province Ex- pansion Committee, and on the South Central Protocol Committee. On the chapter level, he has served as Vice Polemarch, MTA Chair- man, and as Reclamation Chairman and Guide Right Chairman. Brother Cross is

a 2016 Kappa Fellow of the Eta Class of Kappa Alpha Psi’s Undergraduate Leader- ship Institute. He was actively involved as a student leader on the campus of the University of Mississippi. He served as Chief of Staff to the President of the Black Stu- dent Union, the first Black President of the Ole Miss Student Alumni Council, member of the Ole Miss Wesley Foundation, mem- ber of the Ole Miss College Democrats, and a member of Associated Student Body Senate representing the NPHC. He is a member of the Omicron Delta Kappa Senior Honor Society and the nationally ranked Sally McDonnell Barksdale Hon- ors College. He is a summer

2018 Honors graduate of the University of Mississippi where he majored in Phi- losophy with a double minor in Public Policy Leadership and English. He is currently working towards his Master of Divin- ity at the Candler School of Theology at Emory Univer- sity. He is a student leader serving as President of the Candler Evangelical Soci- ety, parliamentarian for the Black Student Caucus, and a member of the Candler Student Alumni Board. Along with being com- mitted to the fundamental purpose of achievement, Brother Cross lives his life based on the teaching of Matthew 10:16, "I send you out as sheep amongst wolves, therefore be shrewd

as serpents, yet innocent as doves." It is evident that Christo- pher’s young life epitomizes Achievement and that he sees obstacles as opportu- nities to achieve in spite of; not because of. We are thankful to Cynthia and Todd Cross, Christopher’s parents – for God’s most precious gift to you has been a blessing to the Noble Clan of Kappa Alpha Psi. Here's to Guy L. Grant Award recipient Christo- pher G. Cross!
