There must be a goal in life. If we have no objective we drift and have a profitless and fruitless life. We need direction for living. There must be something set be fore us as an objective to be attained, else there is no incentive in service. The Holy Spirit is the Lord of the harvest and will impart a definite purpose to any heart that honestly seeks to know. Life is full of wonderful possibilities. The ants are busy preparing for the future. The locusts are active in going forth by bands. The spiders seek opportunity to enter the palace of the king. The conies make sure of a hiding place. Let us learn a lesson from them. Let Us Seek Personal Improvement 1 Tim. 4:16 Our value to society is very largely measured by our understanding of God’s Word and God’s ways. We should im prove our character and oUr conduct. We should improve our gifts and abilities. We should make ourselves more valuable constantly so that we may serve our fel low men favorably and successfully. We need to be more able and efficient in our business. It is the expert who draws the needy ones to himself. Let us never be content with what we have already at tained. Let Us Seek Personal Education 2 Tim. 2:25 There is much to learn. Life offers unending possibilities for knowledge. The ignorant and untaught person is often a burden to society instead of a blessing. We who enjoy the blessing of a good home or a profitable business enjoy it because somebody learned how to make a
desk or construct a fountain pen. Some one learned how to wire a house for elec tricity, how to pipe a building for plumb ing. Others have learned how to cultivate fruits and vegetables. All of the blessings we enjoy come because of knowledge and education. Let Us Seek Personal Service Psa. 100:2 One of the joys of life is to be of use to others. We serve the Lord with gladness as we learn how to do it and where to do it. There are many kinds of service which may be rendered. No service is dishon orable. All service is profitable. Those who have no desire to serve others have failed in their vision and certainly will not succeed in their associations. We read that David served his own genera tion and then fell asleep. It is our priv ilege to serve both saint and sinner. Let this be our aim and ambition. Let us seek help from Heaven to be of the most use to the most people. Let Us Seek Personal Progress 2 Pet, 3:18 There are opportunities on every hand for greater service in a wider sphere and in every department. Let us encour age each one to have a vision that is far- reaching. Let us endeavor to see beyond our own narrow horizons and get a vision of the great world that lies around us. Missionary fields should arouse our in terest and make us desire to give and to go for the glory of God.
