Impaired drivers causing trouble

InHawkesbury, amotorist flagged down an OPP constable shortly after midnight on November 23 to report an impaired driver.

Impaired drivers face several charges when caught. Nonetheless, there are still plenty around. On November 22, Hawkesbury OPP received complaints from motorists regar- ding a possible impaired driver in Alfred- Plantagenet. Police were on the lookout for the car when they stopped 43-year-old Robert Jones due to erratic driving. Jones, of Ottawa, was arrested and charged under

Thieves targeting tools and electronics Sometime between November 16 and 20, three homes were targeted and several tools as well as electronics were sto- len. Hawkesbury OPP is investigating a break-in on Bay Road in Champlain that occurred between November 16 and 17. Air impact tools, a nailer, drills, weed- eater grass trimmer, a laser level and other items were stolen from the shed. Any information on this crime should be repor- ted to Sergeant Adrien Joly. The police are investigating another break-in that occur- red between November 18 and 20 at a Ghislain Street residence in Hawkesbury. A Black & Decker double grinder and a Delta Shop master/disk sander were stolen. Police discovered the thief tried to break the rear patio door of the residence with no success. Any information on this crime should be reported to Constable Matthew Priess. Hawkesbury OPP is also investi- gating a break-in that occurred between November 18 and 20 at a Nelson Street residence in Hawkesbury. Electronic items including a 50-inch Sony Bravia television, Acer laptop, and an IPad mini were stolen. Any information should be reported to Constable Bradley Giroux. Residents commuting in from Prescott-Russell to work in Ottawa or enjoy a day of shopping are warned to make sure their vehicles are locked and anything valuable either hidden or removed from inside. The Ottawa Police Service reports a rash of theft cases involving unlocked vehicles in the downtown area of the city and other sur- rounding neighbourhoods. Since the beginning of October, Ottawa police have logged about 500 theft reports involving unlocked vehicles, with about half of those cases in the downtown core. – Gregg Chamberlain The driver had been seen around town in Hawkesbury as well as in Grenville driving erratically.
