MATTHEWWILCOCK

“How potent her future was at such a young age.”

My story experiments with, but generally adheres to, the traditional six-part story structure: exposition, complication, rising action, climax, epiphany and resolution. Colour symbolism is used to show the different ways in which the protagonist reacts, depending on how he perceives: the “green” and “white” promise fertile, natural love at the start of the piece but are counterbalanced by “red” lips representative of love’s lustful and superficial nature. The central aim is didactic: a warning to the reader of susceptibility to sexual obsession, a common danger which inevitably leads to disillusionment rather than fulfilment.
