La municipalité de La Nation veut louer la cantine au Centre récréatif de St-Isidore pour la saison de glace du 23 août 2018 au 17 mai 2019. Vous êtes invités à soumettre une soumission pour la location de la cantine. Tous les documents requis sont disponibles en ligne à www.NationMun.ca et les visites des lieux seront faites au besoin. Les soumissions doivent être déposées dans une enveloppe scellée et clairement identifiée « St-Isidore Canteen Tender » au bureau municipal de Casselman (958, route 500 Ouest) avant 11h, le 4 juillet 2018. TRIVIA NIGHT FOR THE XIE FAMILY Un portrait d’André Vinette, un homme qui s’est dévoué énormément pour sa communauté, a été dévoilé lors du méchoui annuel de Saint-Albert, qui a eu lieu il y a quelques semaines. M. Vinette siégeait sur plusieurs comités, dont le comité de la paroisse de Saint-Albert ainsi que le comité consultatif des loisirs et de la culture de la Municipalité de La Nation. C’était également un bénévole très engagé dans sa communauité. Il est décédé à l’âge de 68 ans, le 23 décembre dernier, à la suite d’une attaque cardiaque. La nouvelle salle de conférence du Centre communautaire de Saint-Albert portera le nom de ce « grand bénévole », tel que l’a qualifié le conseiller municipal Marc Laflèche. Le portrait, fait à la main par l’artiste Jacques Meilleur de Crysler, sera exposé de façon permanente à l’intérieur des murs de la Salle André-Vinette. Pour la femme de M. Vinette, Rachel Vinette, c’est un portrait qui représente beaucoup. « C’est vraiment beau, je le regarde et c’est spécial. Il est naturel, le sourire que tu vois, c’était lui ça », a-t-elle partagé avec émotion. Sur la photo, on reconnait, dans l’ordre habituel, le conseiller municipal de La Nation Marc Laflèche, le maire de La Nation François St-Amour, l’artiste auteur du portrait Jacques Meilleur, l’épouse d’André Vinette Rachel Vinette ainsi que le Grand Chevalier des Chevaliers de Colomb de Saint-Albert, Alain Leduc. —photo Caroline Prévost

A Trivia Night was held in Russell June 9 to help raise money for the family of Angelica Xie, who has Dystonic Cerebral Palsy. Angelica is a student of St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic High School and she and her family live in Russell. The Trivia Night also included a silent auction. The purpose of the fundraiser is to help the family buy certain items to improve Angelica’s quality of life at home, such as a hospital bed, a ceiling track lift system, a sling for lift, a bathing sling, a commode for toileting and a van conversion. A Murder/Mystery Dinner night will also be taking place on Friday, June 15, at the Russell Arena, as another fundraiser for the family. — submitted photo
