SUCCESS FOR THE WARDEN’S GOLF TOURNAMENT
A total of 160 golfers gathered at the Casselview Golf and Country Club, June 15, for the annual Warden’s Charity Golf Tournament of the United Counties of Prescott and Russell. The 2018 edition of the tournament was a great success, helping to raise money for several different charities, including the opportunity to raise additional funds for breast cancer research. “The golf tournament has allowed us to raise considerable funds, which will be distributed at the end of the year to non-profit organizations in our region, including the Prescott and Russell Community Services and the six Golden Age Clubs located in 5IF/BUJPO uBOOPVODFE8BSEFO'SBOÉPJT St-Amour. i8FBSFTPQMFBTFEXJUIUIJTHFOFSPVT SFDPHOJUJPOGSPN8BSEFO4U"NPVSuTBJE Sylvie Leclair, Executive Director of the Prescott and Russell Community Services. “Our mission is to provide community sup- port services to adults and seniors in the SFHJPOu As in previous years, the event also provided golfers the opportunity to donate NPOFZGPSCSFBTUDBODFSSFTFBSDI5XP.VT - tang vehicles were parked on the terrain throughout the day to encourage participants to donate in support of charitable causes GPSUIF3PDLMBOE'PSE$MBTTJDT1PLFS3VO which will take place on June 30 as part of UIF0UUBXB3JWFS'FTUJWBM The warden recognized important contri- CVUJPOTGSPNTQPOTPSTTVDIBTUIF/BUJPOBM Bank of Canada, Enbridge Gas Distribution, Emond Harnden SRL LLP, Vice & Hunter The Kin Club of Russell has voted in its next major project – Welcome to Russell signs. After months of strategic planning and input from the public, the township and local businesses, the sign project was selected over four other projects, in what was a very close vote. The other projects in consider- ation included a walkway and walking bridge over the Castor River, a community garden, a new pool/arena complex and a community van. The two Welcome to Russell signs that will be put in place will be similar to those already in existence in Embrun, complete with stonework, signage and shrubbery.
— Hawkmyer Productions

The signs are proposed to be placed at the Boundary Road/Craig Street entrance and at the corner of Castor and Eadie roads. The cost for both signs is estimated between $60,000 and $80,000 and the project is expected to be complete within the year. Once this project is done, the Kin Club will once again move on to another major project. Although the recent survey that was conducted by the club demonstrated the majority of residents wanted a new pool complex, Kin Club members felt it was the right time to take on an easier project, right after the completion of the major Sports Dome project. — EAP newsroom
—photo fournie
