Deputy Director Estate Development
The post will contribute to and support Estates in the key areas of: • Strategic and operational development, planning and implementation at University and Estates levels • The development of the University estate • People management and human resource planning • Financial and resources management • Performance measurement and continuous improvement • Effective partnerships within Estates, the University and with external stakeholders. JOB DESCRIPTION Purpose Reporting to the Group Director of Estate Development, the post holder will provide professional construction, project management and building engineering services for major projects to the University Group delivering individual elements of the Corporate Plan and Estate Strategy in order to implement the strategic aims of the University and see the successful delivery of the capital spend currently in excess of £430m. The post holder will take responsibility for leadership and delivery of the large scale (typically £20m+) and high profile projects emanating from the University’s capital programme as well as managing smaller projects from time to time.

Ref No: REQ003920 ESTATES DEVELOPMENT In recognition of the size of the University’s capital programme this important post is a lead driver for the delivery of major projects. The post sits alongside the existing Deputy Director Estate Development and reports to the Group Director of Estate Development. To deliver the vision of the Corporate Plan and the Estate Masterplan it is expected that the spend on projects over the next five years will be significant; building on the major redevelopment programme currently underway. In addition to the University’s direct spend; the post holder will be actively involved in projects which are being delivered for the university by developers using lease or other arrangements. To successfully deliver this programme and to be able to provide strong management reporting will require that the existing methods of management and delivery be continually reviewed and strengthened in line industry best practice to ensure a best in class delivery. The holder of this post will be expected to take the lead on this. The post holder will deliver the core values of the service to explicitly enhance: • Customer satisfaction; • High quality design standards and buildings operations;
• High quality facilities maintenance and services; • Safety and security of students, staff and property; • Environmental protection and sustainability; • SMART systems both for Estates and the wider campus.
