A relevant property related professional qualification/chartered membership.

Post graduate qualification in construction/project management or similar discipline.

General management qualifications.

Post related CPD/ongoing training. Recognised project managemnt accreditation

Experience (Paid and Unpaid)

A proven record in the management of the delivery of large and complex new buildings from inception to completion and handover. Demonstrable financial management experience, with a track re- cord of managing capital budgets in excess of £20m per project. A demonstrable ability to manage multiple projects and pro- grammes at the same time with successful outcomes. Experience and ability to plan and allocate resources in the deliv- ery of a programme of projects. Experience of leading the embryonic stages of projects including elements such as business case development, feasibility and option appraisal, strategic brief development and concept design. A thorough and up to date knowledge of current construction trends and legislation. A depth of knowledge of BIM and Softlandings to be able to en- sure that it is successfully implemented at the university. A demonstrable thorough understanding and preferably by expe- rience the delivery of major ‘turnkey’ projects. Experience across a broad set of building types and in addition to new build refurbishment projects. A track record of working confidently with lawyers to ensure that all contracts, warranties, agreements etc. are suitable for the university’s needs and have no adverse conditions. A good understanding of EU procurement law and to be able to work with a Procurement team to ensure compliance. Experience in different forms of procurement and construction and consultant contracts. Substantial experience in reviewing options for procurement of the services of consultants and contractors and making reasoned recommendations. Significant experience in reviewing and managing risk and imple- menting systems to ensure its reduction. An ability to work with people from all levels within an organi- sation and to be able to identify and work effectively with key stakeholders. A proven ability to work with senior management teams, write and deliver clear reports and provide considered solutions to problems and challenges. Evidence of team leadership including team building, recruitment and professional development.

Ideally worked in a large complex and customer focussed organisation and been able to build strong relationships across the organisation. Ideally to have been involved in the development and implementation of masterplans and strategy. Managing the delivery of multiple projects in a campus environment. Ideally having gained experienced on projects spanning the education, science, health, commercial and residential sectors. Experience of having led projects in a high-foot- fall, urban environment. Experience in working to ensure projects deliver a reduction in CO2 and contribute to sustainability goals. Experience in the commercial evaluation of developments. The preparation and operation of customer satisfaction monitoring systems. A working understanding of Town and Country Planning legislation. Experience in the negotiation of projects with Developers. Have experience working both ‘Client’ and ‘Commercial’ side. The preparation, implementation and management of framework agreements.
