Environmental Street Furniture (ESF) is bringing The Wombles back to life with a range that builds on the programme’s theme of recycling and raising awareness of environmental issues. The Wombles Collection by ESF includes themed bins, benches, picnic tables, planters and activity games tables. The ‘Tobermory Smart Bin’ is fully solar-powered and equipped with an automatic litter compactor, while the ‘Wellington Solar Bench’, is also solar-powered and offers wireless phone chargers. The ‘Orinoco Activity Picnic Table’ is wheelchair-accessible and full of activities such as Wombles Ladders or Wimbledon Common Maze. The collection was manufactured using Plaswood, made with recycled post-consumer waste. Henry Brothers has been appointed for the Queen’s University Belfast- led Advanced Manufacturing Innovation Centre (AMIC), a £100m Belfast Region City Deal project. The company has won the £30m contract to construct the 10,500m² Factory of the Future building at Global Point Business Park in Newtownabbey. AMIC will reinvigorate Northern Ireland’s industrial potential and address the future technology and skills challenges faced by the region’s manufacturing sector. Work includes construction of an engineering hall, a clean room, laboratory spaces, an auditorium and office accommodation as well as external landscaping and mechanical and electrical services. APPLICATION PROCESS OPENS FOR 50 GRADUATE AND PLACEMENT POSITIONS AT FARRANS

Leading civil engineering and building contractor Farrans Construction has launched its application process for 50 high-demand positions in the graduate programme, Farrans Foundation, with intake dates in June and September 2024. The two-year programme provides a blend of classroom-based learning and on-site experience to fast-track applicants’ careers in construction, quantity surveying and civil engineering.
